Honorary Secretary | | | | | Honorary Secretary Expressions of interest are sought for this post. The Honorary Secretary will serve for an initial period of 4 years. The Honorary Secretary will normally be appointed as a Trustee of the Association and provides general support to the President, Trustees, Executive Committee Members and affiliated individuals. The Honorary Secretary plays a key role in delivering the annual meeting. Expressions of interest are sought by Wednesday 30 November 2011; the job description for the role of Honorary Secretary and the application procedure can be found by clicking here | The Renal Association is very keen to support, and have input from, trainees who have committed to a career in nephrology, and is offering 1 year's free membership to Clinical Trainees and Phd students joining the Association in 2012. This offer would apply for one calendar year, commencing 1 January 2012. Please forward this offer to any colleagues or friends who you think might be interested and ask that they contact renal@mci-group.com for more information. | Call For Membership Fees For 2012 The Renal Association Secretariat will be contacting all members by email from the beginning of November in order to collect membership subscription fees for the period January-December 2012. As part of the annual renewal we will be conducting a data cleanse of the association membership, some members who currently pay by direct debit may be asked to complete a brand new direct debit mandate. The mandate will supersede any previous information that may have been sent to the Renal Association. Any member who does not currently pay their membership fee by direct debit, will be given the opportunity to complete a direct debit mandate when the call for membership fees is sent by email, at the beginning of November. Due to the data cleanse all members are kindly requested to check their details carefully and to respond by completing and returning the renewal form no later than 30 November 2011. | | Less Than Full Time (LTFT) Survey - responses from LTFT and FT nephrologists sought Attention ALL Nephrologists!

Katie Bostock | Request for Mentors Questionnaire The recent survey of Renal Association consultant and NCG members revealed an unmet need for improved mentoring and access to careers advice. Key findings from the survey were: - 80% of the 204 respondents do not have/have never had a mentor
- 37% of 159 respondents would like a mentor in future
- 60% of 159 respondents would find it helpful to approach mentors via the RA
- 68% of 192 respondents would be interested in mentoring a younger colleague
- 58% of 159 respondents have not had advice on career development/progression

We will be joined by faculty from the Mayo Clinic, and an exciting programme has been designed that will appeal to anyone interested in the kidney, its diseases and their treatments. The conference aims to unite clinicians, laboratory scientists, nurse specialists, GPs and all specialists who have any interest in learning about kidney function and kidney disease, including interactions with the kidney and other systems. We are also pleased to announce that registration and abstract submission is now open for the 2012 conference in Newcastle/ Gateshead.
