| | | Dear Colleagues, This month's joint conference in Birmingham was a great achievement. The programme was very well received and I would like to thank all those who were involved in the making of such a successful event. Your passion, ingenuity and hard work really made for a very successful meeting. I would also like to thank Patti Monkhouse and the BRS Secretariat Team for their superb organisation. So now we move on to 2012, when we will run a stand alone Renal Association Conference. The dates are confirmed as 11 - 14 June 2012, we will meet in Newcastle at The Sage Gateshead. Planning is already well underway, so please save these dates in your diary and make sure to check the website for updates! I would also like to highlight that submissions are open for the Raine Award, the Lockwood Award and Walls Bursaries - Deadline 31 August 2011. They are currently seeking to recruit a number of healthcare professionals for the guideline development group (GDG) and co-opted experts. This educational website provides Nephrologists with a range of educational resources. Read more | | Fellowships & Research Programmes | | NHS Kidney Care Fellowships Junior doctors currently training in renal medicine are invited to apply for the NHS Kidney Care fellowship. This is an exciting opportunity for talented junior doctors to enhance their skills in healthcare management and leadership and develop knowledge and understanding around quality improvement in kidney care and renal policy. More information | | New Joint Fellowship with ISN The Renal Association has recently established a new joint fellowship with the ISN. Together with two existing joint fellowships offered by KRUK and ISN, there are now 3 annual fellowships available to enable suitably qualified overseas trainees to undertake a period of clinical and research training in UK renal units. This is often highly beneficial to both the home and host institutions since the fellow would be expected to return to their home institution following completion. Application deadlines are normally in June and December. Further details are available through the ISN website. | Bernd Teersteegen Award 2011 This annual award of 8000 Euro is awarded internationally for basic and particularly for clinical research related to chronic renal insufficiency and to advances in treatment of end stage renal disease. Submission deadline is Friday 15 July 2011.
