Really hope you enjoyed a good Easter, how time is flying by this year!  With just two months to go before our next joint conference it is a busy time for the Association.

 

If you have not yet registered to attend then please do so. Don't forget that conference registration closes on Tuesday 31 May at 17:00. Click here to register 

 

This month I would also like to remind you of the deadline to vote for 3 members of the Executive Committee. The ballot is open 24 hours a day and closes at noon on Monday 16 May 2011.  If you have not received your individual email to vote then please contact our Secretariat 

 

We have 5 strong candidates in Sunil Bhandari, Mark Dockrell, Neill Duncan, Alastair Hutchison and Claire Sharpe, so please make your vote.

UK Renal Registry Director - Position Available

The UK Renal Registry are seeking a dynamic and innovative director with experience of large clinical databases who will manage the day to day operational aspects of the UKRR, support the Chair in acting as the 'public face' of the Registry and to undertake research projects. Call for Applications - Rare Disease Working Group

Kidney Research UK, in partnership with the British Kidney Patients Association, and working with the Renal Association announces a call for applications from those who wish to apply to setup and run a Rare Disease Working Group. Grant support to cover meeting and literature activities is available along with central infrastructure support coordinated under the RA Rare Diseases Committee. Congratulations to Laurie Tomlinson

We would like to congratulate Laurie Tomlinson for being awarded a NICE Scholarship. Laurie will undertake a project investigating the relationship between rates of prescription of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors and hospital admissions with acute kidney injury, at both a local and national level. Reducing HCIAs 2011 Conference - One Delegate Place Still Available

The Renal Association  have kindly been offered three fully funded delegate places to the Reducing HCAIs 2011 Conference being held at The Brewery in London on Tuesday 21 June 2011. These places are being offered on a first come first served basis and there is still one place left therefore if you are interested in taking up this generous offer, please contact the RA Secretariat on renal@mci-group.com as soon as possible.

Funding Opportunity for Intercalated Degrees    

Kidney Research UK is offering grants of £5000 over one year to medical students undertaking research that is directly relevant to the kidney and kidney disease as part of an intercalated degree, commencing in October 2011 (academic year 2011/12). More information 

Kidney Wales Foundation

The Kidney Wales Foundation invites applications for the 2011 round of awards. Support is available for project grants and PhD studentships. The deadline for applications is 1st July 2011, and awards may be taken up later this year. Further details and application forms are available from the website

First National Gitelman / Barrter Support Day 

Fiona Karet is organising the first support day for patients with Gitelman or Barrter Syndrom and their families on Saturday 11 June 2011 in Central London. 6th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Cardiorenal Forum
This one day meeting will take place on Friday 7th October 2011 at the Royal Society in London and will highlight the important clinical overlap that exists between patients presenting with a primary cardiovascular or renal problem. Please click here for more information. 
10th European Peritoneal Dialysis Meeting
