The Advanced Nephrology Course is moving from strength to strength, with a growing national and international reputation. The next session is in Manchester, 30th September to 3rd October, and you can attend for two days or four days. The course gives excellent CPD for trainees and consultants. And it saves a flight across the Atlantic! Including:
- Lupus nephritis and anti-cardiolipin syndrome
- vasculitis and anti-GBM disease
- PD symposium
- myeloma and dysproteinaemias

The new Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network Guideline on The Diagnosis and Management of Chronic Kidney Disease has just been published. You can read the full guideline here, or look at the quick reference guide.

Working with Donal O'Donoghue the National Clinical Director for Kidney Care in England an Interim Report on the future of the national tariff for Renal Replacement Therapy in England has been produced by the Renal Payment by Results Group.  The major recommendations concern contracting arrangements for dialysis. In particular the report recommends that a mandatory tariff for the various dialysis modalities should not be introduced in April 2009. Read more...

The Department of Health in England's National Liverpool Care Pathway for the Dying Patient Renal Steering Group have produced guidelines for terminal symptom control in patients with stage 4 and 5 chronic kidney disease. These guidelines have been endorsed by the Renal Association.

The PD Access Working Group have released their draft report for consultation. You can download the report here. Please send your comments to Dr Martin Wilkie. The consultation period closes on 1st August at midnight (BST).  

The Renal Association and NCEPOD are working collaboratively on a study looking at the outcomes of patients with AKI. The details are described in the attached presentation. Or read the protocol. You may already have received a questionnaire. The Renal Association would encourage you to complete and return this, so that the study gains as complete a picture as possible of this important condition. The results will be collated and distributed to all Renal Association members when they are available.
