Expression of Interest: Implementing Care Planning

NHS Kidney Care is extending its Implementing Care Planning Project.

Over the past six months, NHS Kidney Care has supported 23 units to implement care planning, by funding a dedicated professional for two sessions a week. The project is now being expanded amongst more units, and current project groups are being supported to further develop and embed their work. Adult and paediatric kidney units have been invited to submit expressions of interest for the project..

CKD How-to guide: Community based service for CKD patients offers improved quality, convenience and efficiency

NHS Kidney Care has published a new ‘How-to’ guide, which highlights the improved quality, convenience and efficiency that a community based service can offer patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).The guide looks at a community based service for people with CKD 3b, set up by GPs in Birmingham, who would previously have been managed in secondary care.

New CKD e-learning course launched

A new e-learning course has been launched to help GPs better identify, monitor and manage individual patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Kidney Health in General Practice has been produced by the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) in partnership with NHS Kidney Care. 

The course takes around three hours to complete, which can be broken up in 20-minute sections and is freely available on the RCGP website at:

Network approach to tackle AKI

A new network, supported and sponsored by NHS Kidney Care, has launched in London to help tackle Acute Kidney Injury (AKI). The London AKI Network (LAKIN) is a collaboration of healthcare professionals and organisations involved in AKI care throughout London and its referring regions. Its aim is equitable, high-quality AKI prevention and care in the capital and beyond.
