Equal Opportunities in Nephrology Committee
Committee Chair: Dr Alison Brown
The Equal Opportunities in Nephrology Committee has been created as a result of the Renal Association’s commitment to support and develop equality of opportunity in nephrology in the UK. We hope to improve access to mentoring and career advice for female nephrologists, and encourage women in leadership.
We recognize that equal opportunities issues can apply to men as well, so although much of our initial focus will be on females in nephrology, the firm intention is not to be exclusive and to address equal opportunity concerns wherever they arise.
The EON Committee will liase with and act as a conduit for exchange of ideas between nephrologists from all arenas which are under- represented at leadership levels in dealings with the RA Executive Committee.
We encourage anyone with any queries, requests for advice or suggestions for future initiatives to contact Alison Brown or Committee members directly.
The inaugural EON dinner took place last year on Monday 6th June, during the 2011 Joint Conference. Professor Debbie Sharp, Professor of Primary Care at Bristol, gave an inspiring speech after dinner and allattendees enjoyed an evening of excellent food, wine, conversation and networking !
This year we have arranged a more informal networking event during the Welcome Reception , starting at 1830 on Tuesday 12th June at the Sage Gateshead.
You will be able to meet the new Chair, Dr Claire Sharpe, who will take over from Alison Brown in June.
Please click here for information on this year's EON networking event.
Below you can read the minutes of Committee meetings plus various documents of interest . The most recent document added gives the results of the survey of SAS doctors in renal medicine , carried out by Dr Mun Woo (SAS representative on the EON Committee)
