Renal Registry

The Renal Registry was established by the Renal Association with support from the Department of Health, the British Association of Paediatric Nephrologists, and the British Transplant Society as a resource for the development of patient care. It is non profit making and as part of the Renal Association is registered as a charitable activity by the Charity Commission.

The UK is increasingly well covered with participation now approaching 100%, although there are differences in data completeness and quality that are being worked on. Units not involved are mostly limited by IT difficulties, not lack of willingness.

Scotland is 100% covered, but with a more limited dataset, by the Scottish Renal Registry. Statistical data from the Scottish Renal Registry is incorporated into Renal Renal Registry reports. The Renal Registry publishes annual reports which can be read on its own website:

More information about the Registry's background and purpose is also available from those pages.

The Registry is funded by a capitation fee for each patient.
